You have to add Zoom Wrangler to your profile! Intention event tonight was a great kickoff at a rodeo riding the bull while spinning plates with greased hands! But you did it and I finally got off my duff with writing. Thank you.
Oh my gosh, I DID feel like a Zoom Wrangler - such an apt description (and I will seriously think of where/how I can add this to my profile! :D) Zoom attacks like that almost never happen (as you know!) at PVWW events, though I suppose last night was quite a bit larger, and maybe that was why. Regardless, thanks for being there, and I'm so happy to hear you got some writing in! That is the intention! Hope to see you on Friday Feb. 7th, which will be led by Leonora (but I'll be there as a writer, getting writing in!)
Thank you, Mary. I appreciate those kind thoughts. It is a rough road, but I know I'm not alone on it. And I'm happy the future self concept resonates! I might do a whole separate post on it, as I have some more ideas about it, and it's quite fun for me too. :)
I love the idea of using characters, physical items, etc to guide us while writing - I’ve not heard that tip before but definitely going to think on that one!
Ah thank you for reading, sweet Candace, and I'm glad that point provides some intrigue! Alongside the snow lion image, I have a little wooden owl statue that says "Wisdom" on it that I always have on my writing desk (even brought it with me to two residencies) and it does seem to offer some positive reminders and (dare I say) even guidance. :)
So sorry to know you've been dealing with double dementia, among other things (I lost my mom in 2021 to a long, slow slide into Alzheimer's)...sending you empathy and wishes for sturdiness! I really appreciate your generosity in sharing these 8 intentions. I especially love the idea of drawing inspiration from the metaphors that are everywhere, all the time (even and especially in things that seem mundane). Such a fun way to jumpstart creative process.
Keith, I'm so deeply sorry about your mom, and that you lost her to the horror that is Alzheimers. I know it's been some years, but my heart goes out to you too. And thank you for those wishes, and the empathy. My sister, partner, and I are a little phalanx working together through all of it, so that gives some sturdiness, and I'm grateful to have them in the journey. And I'm glad the metaphor contemplation resonates! (Is there anything more wonderful than a vivid, sparkling metaphor that illuminates something?!) Wishing you a wonderful, creative, peaceful start to the new year and hope your writing is going well!
Thanks so much, Joy. I appreciate your empathy about my mom. This time of year it does still feel immediately tender. So glad you have a sturdy phalanx for all that is and all that will be. So important! And no, no I don't think there *is* anything more wonderful than a good metaphor! Thank all of creation for the wonder of words and creative expression. Such good medicine. Wishing you peace, courage and abundance in your creative pursuits this year.
Nice to hear from you, Armand, and thank you for reading! Yes, #4 is important for me! And I'm glad 5, 6, and 8 speak to you! Funny random story: But I recently glanced (too quickly) at an email from someone named Amanda, thought it was you, and crafted a whole email thinking it was you, so in a strange way, I feel I've just heard from you, haha. Anyway, I hope you're doing well, and great to hear you're in Spain! I hope to be there again at some point.
One of your points I was recently discussing myself with another writer is protecting my writer time, not just literally (scheduling other events during my writer time, etc.), but emotionally, too. My writer time is mine. I remind myself that my writing time is my fun time and it brings me joy. I need it, not only to accomplish my fiction work, but to acknowledge that it provides me happiness. So in that sense, I need to protect it and I feel most writers should, too.
Such a good point, Scott - that there's a kind of emotional defense of our writing time that WE have to uphold in ourselves, before we more literally protect it in our schedules. No one else is going to fight for us to have that writing time either - and like you said, it's not just to accomplish things, it's what brings happiness.

I've got to print out your '8 Things I’m Practicing' list and tape it to my wall. That practical + poetic blend is gold.
Ah this makes me so happy, Barbara! I have it printed out too :)
I’m so sorry about your mom and stepdad, and this rough road. I love the notion of meeting your future self partway. All good wishes in 2025.

Great, Joy! An 8 point resolution! I like #1, want to see you do #4, and will copy 5, 6, and 8!
Saludos desde España!
